Hevy is a free workout tracker & planner for iOS and Android. Build routines and track progress with friends.

As one of the top products currently in Activity tracking space, I thought to give Hevy a try.

Hevy Apps Google Play Listing

Rated as 4.9 with over 1M download, Hevy app is the talk of the town for many a fitness freaks.

Hevy has both a web and a mobile version to support its users. Primarily, it encourages users to use mobile version for better experience.

So, here’s a complete teardown of my experience both in web and mobile.

Note: At the end of the teardown do read my recommendations and do share your thoughts as well.

Note: Wait For 10 Seconds as the teardown below is in Image format and takes a while to load :)

Let’s begin.

So, I went directly to Google and typed Hevy in the search bar. And the journey begins with a landing page:

👉Remarks in Green are good experience elements I felt easy to go with, -👉Remarks in red are pointers to consider in order to improve UX.

My Recommendations:

  • Align Web and Mobile experience as close as possible
  • Try to give users value first and then ask for credentials
  • “The AHA moment” should be given to the user as soon as possible
  • The complete flow is disparate and journey is not intuitive enough
  • Ensure all prompts reflect confidence and set expectations to alleviate anxieties
  • Ensure continuity in experience by breaking down the tasks in Jobs to be Done framework and connecting them at the right time
  • Ensure copy is aligned to the users benefits and not what this product can do
  • Empty states are opportunities to reinforce brands, help initiate users, help them achieve tasks, etc.
  • Ensure the scene of the information is maintained throughout the journey
  • Map Entry and Exit points for users as they land in your App, and design onboarding experiences contextually rather all in one or one and done approach.
